Parkway Student Council Delegation Participates in State Convention
Last weekend, a group of 11 Parkway School Student Council members and their adviser, Mrs. Martin, attended the North Carolina Student Council State Convention in Raleigh. Parkway’s group was joined by student council delegations from Green Valley School and Watauga High School. The students enjoyed a packed weekend of general session meetings, tours of downtown Raleigh, state officer campaigns and elections, and a banquet and dance. Our student council received several awards for their service to our school and community. They were recognized as an Honor Council, for supporting Victory Junction (a camp for children living with serious medical conditions) , and for recruiting other schools into the state organization. Two eighth grade students, Bianca R. and Shaelyn S., were inducted into the Student Council Hall of Fame for 2017. These students represented our school very well! As many of you know, we have had a LOT of students out recently with various illnesses including flur. Oftentimes, students are coming to school feeling sick and we are having to call parents to come pick them up very early in our day. Please remember that students should be fever free and have made it at least 24 hours with no vomiting or diarrhea - without the assistance of medication - before returning to school. We ask that parents follow these guidelines to help us stop the spread of these illnesses. Please contact Nurse Thompson if you have questions.
Congratulations to Robin Smith
Parkway's Teacher of the Year for 2017-2018
Remember during the cold weather season that supervision is available for students in the cafeteria each morning beginning at 7:15 but if we have a two-hour delay, supervision begins at 9:15. Please do not drop off your students and drive off prior to the supervision time if you do not see a staff member out front to greet them. This is for the safety of all our students.
